Wasn't sure where to post this but and completely clueless on how they work/operate.
What are your takes on nat. gaz unvented fireplace?
Are they a health hazard?
In my case it's a quick fix for I've got quit the work load to vent it.
Any options with regular nat. gaz fireplace I am not aware of.
Thanks for any advice!

Below some max BTU/hour burn rate unvented gas appliances are allowed in some places (but not everywhere- check your local codes.)

That's not to say they're a good idea.

Natural gas exhaust when combustion is complete is primarily CO2 and water vapor, both of which are fairly innocuous to human health- not an immediate threat. But in a tight house raising the humidity levels can lead to higher mold potential, condensation on windows, etc. There is also small amounts of fine particuate in the exhaust, which can aggravate athsma in some.

If the ventilation rate in the house is high enough you can probably "get away with it" though. Monitor both the indoor humidity and have CO detectors in place if you decide to go forward with it.

Un-vented fireplaces are okay, as long as you don't mind living in a chimney! What Dana1 stated above is absolutely correct, but I would further emphasize the poor indoor air quality issue. The fact that unvented fireplaces are not accepted in all 50 states should also be somewhat of a red flag.
